The Fashion Designing Diploma students of DESIGN ACADEMY went to Garment Technology Expo, one of India’s largest events committed to apparel technology in India in February 2019 at NSIC Exhibition Complex, Okhla, New Delhi. The objective of this trip was to let them know about all the segments of the industry including the latest technology machines used in the industry.
Design Academy arranged a visit of Fashion Designing Diploma students to Select City Walk to give them a good exposure of different brands under one roof including the design ideas and to explain them the principles and elements of Fashion Designing. The students also got an exposure for visual merchandising which helped them gain knowledge about creating eye-catching product displays & store layouts.
Fashion Designing Diploma students of Design Academy visited Ministry of Textiles (Weavers Service Center), Ashok Vihar, New Delhi, accompanied by their teachers to get the exposure of Textile Designing in the industry. They learned about the three different stages of fabric formation i.e., Design, Weaving and Dyeing & printing. The visit gave the students an insight into Textile Industry.
Fashion Designing Diploma students of Design Academy got a chance to attend workshop on TUKATECH, a Software including TUKACAD & TUKA3D, used for apparel product development & garment manufacturing. They learned about creating beautifully engineered patterns using TUKACAD. The exposure to TUKA3D gave the students’ knowledge about creating stunning presentations to showcase garment collections eliminating the need for physical samples.
Design Academy in collaboration with Nidhi Foundation, NGO in Noida, arranged a Fashion Show under the Title “Roots to Shoots. Our Fashion Designing Diploma students got a chance to design garments for the very young models of the age between 5 to 8 years using two themes including Big Dreams & Back to School. The students were involved right from the stage of taking measurements of the young models to making their dresses &training them for the ramp show.
Design Academy organized a visit of Diploma students of Interior Designing department to Hettich Application Centre in Punchkuian Road, New Delhi for gaining practical knowledge on modular kitchens. The students were accompanied by the teachers to guide them learning about the technical design aspects of modular kitchen to be kept in mind in order to have a hassle-free kitchen. The Hettich team was very cooperative and explained students the different types of Modular Kitchens and also the different types of Wardrobe Designs.
Design Academy Diploma students of Interior Designing department visited a site under construction in Kalkaji, New Delhi, which helped them understand all the important points to be kept in mind while the site is under construction. They were accompanied by Architects & Interior Designers to help them gain knowledge about the role of various consultants& contractors required on the site.

The visit at the construction site was learning experience for the students to better understand real-world construction practices.
The Interior Designing Diploma students of Design Academy visited a cafe under renovation in Kalkaji, New Delhi. The students were accompanied by their teachers and were guided through the various elements of cafe design including detailing of bar counter, installing of central AC, light fixtures & wall treatments. It was a very knowledgeable visit for the students, helping them incorporating the designing ideas in their class project of cafe.
Interior Designing students of one year Professional Diploma visited Kajaria Display Centre, New Delhi. The very purpose of this visit was to give them exposure to a wide variety of tiles of various sizes existing in the market. The students were made aware of different manufacturing plants of Kajaria all over India and were explained the difference between ceramic & vitrified tiles. They got to know about the digital printing on tiles and different treatments done to the tiles.
